Alla Parsons Art Is PART Of HEART - Honolulu Downtown Art Festival

I am excited that my Art will be included in the HEART of Honolulu Street Festival, a family-friendly, daytime art festival that will close Nuʻuanu Avenue, from King Street to Chaplain Lane, to showcase local art, live local music, food, crafts, and more. The festival takes place on Saturday, October 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is a public event where many local artists will be represented, and I will have my OWN booth. This is the first time I have participated in such an event, and I am both excited and anxious. Come to support me and by my art and celebrate the arts, culture, and good food as you walk, shop, and eat your way around the Chinatown Arts District.

HEART is an acronym that stands for Heritage, Entertainment, Arts & culture, Restaurants, and Theatre & Performing Arts. Together, these elements make up the core of the vibrant creative community that exists in the Bethel and Nuʻuanu Avenue district, between King Street and Beretania Avenue.

I use my life experiences to create images that juxtapose both the real and imagined. My paintings explore universal human emotions, my memories, my family history and my Russian heritage. Self-representation for me is a way to explore my physical, psychological and spiritual self. Art becomes my way of exploring and making meaning of a life that has been lived across three continents, three nations, three citizenships, and has years to go before the adventure is complete. The expression "To Open My Heart" for me means to share my emotions, feelings, life memories and meanings with other people. But the meanings I create...
